T of hearts7 of hearts

Speculative suited connector

Ten-Seven Suited

T7s combines a flush route with more straight connectivity than T6s, but its Ten kicker is still vulnerable. Late position, blind defense, and deeper stacks improve the case for playing it. Avoid inflating pots with a dominated top pair.

Open when:Charted from LJ onward, with marginal UTG1 frequency

Position and stack depth give this suited holding room to develop, but the earliest seats remain more selective.

3bet when:Occasionally from the blinds versus a wide open

It belongs in a polarized bluff branch, not a value range.

Call when:Big blind or in position at a fair price

T7s needs a favorable price because top pair is fragile.

Jam when:Only in a shallow chart branch

T7s is not a default all-in hand at medium or deep stacks.

Fold when:Early position or against tight pressure

Domination outweighs the flush and straight potential.

Strong against

9 of spades7 of spades
97s

97s shares the Seven but has the weaker kicker, making a dominated pair that can still pay T7s.

Weak against

  • A of spadesT of spades
    ATs

ATs shares the Ten with the better kicker, so T7s can make a costly second-best pair.

Flop classes

A of spades8 of spades2 of hearts
Flush draw

With T♠ 7♠ on A♠ 8♠ 2♦, the flush draw can continue against suitable sizing.

9 of spades8 of hearts2 of spades
Open-ended draw

On 9♣ 8♦ 2♠, a Six or Jack completes the 7-8-9-T-J straight.

T of spades7 of spades2 of hearts
Two pair

On T♠ 7♣ 2♦, bet for value while remembering that stronger Ten-x hands dominate the top pair.

Strategic notes

Versus 3-bets
  • Call selectively in position: Continue mainly when the sizing is small and the stack leaves room for draws.
  • Fold more often out of position: A weak top pair does not recover the cost of a wide defense.
Post-flop playability
  • Use the flush draw when present: With two same-suit hole cards and two matching flop cards, T7s has a flush draw and no made pair.
  • Identify the straight draw exactly: T7s has an open-ended straight draw when the flop supplies the required neighboring ranks.
  • Control top pair: Two pair is made when a Ten and Seven pair the hand, but higher Tens remain a concern on later streets.
