Strategic notes

Versus 3-bets
  • Call in position when the opener is wide enough and the price is good.
  • Do not overpay out of position when your realization will be poor.
  • Keep KQo honest versus stronger continuation ranges instead of forcing every spot into a huge pot.
Versus 4-bets
  • Often fold to a clear 4-bet from a tight range.
  • Continue only when the price, depth, and range story justify it.
  • KQo is a useful broadway, not a hand that should always continue under heavy pressure.
Post-flop playability
  • Value line: On K-high or Q-high dry boards, KQo can often value bet top pair or strong pair-plus-kicker spots.
  • On low connected boards KQo often has only two overcards. Slow down when the range advantage and position do not give those overcards enough fold equity.
  • Common mistake: Do not turn two overcards into an automatic bluff just because KQo is broadway-heavy.
