Seven-Six Suited

76s is a middle connector with real low and middle straight routes. It can make strong pair-plus-draw hands and higher straights than 65s, so it is more playable in late-position opens and deep Big Blind defenses. A single pair on a coordinated board is still not a reason to inflate the pot.

It has enough connected coverage to open later than 65s in many structures.

3bet when:As a selective bluff in a polarized position-specific range

Its blockers are modest, so the raise needs a clear fold-equity reason and sizing.

Call when:In position or BB at a good price

It can realize both straight and flush equity when the stack is deep enough.

Jam when:Only in a chart-supported shallow-stack branch

With more depth, a jam discards the postflop value that makes 76s attractive.

Fold when:Against early strength, large sizings, or shallow stacks

Reverse implied odds rise when better sevens, sixes, and higher draws remain in the range.

75s shares the Seven but has the weaker kicker, making a dominated pair that can still pay 76s.

A7s shares the Seven with the better kicker, so 76s can make a costly second-best pair.

Flop classes

Made middle straight

On 9♣ 8♦ 5♥, 76s makes the seven-high straight. The board is dynamic, so flush and higher-straight redraws matter.

Open-ended draw

On 9♠ 8♦ 2♣, 76s has an open-ended draw to a five or ten.

No direct draw

On A♥ 8♣ 3♦, 76s has no made hand, no open-ended draw, no gutshot, and no flush draw. Only a suit-specific backdoor can add flush equity.

Strategic notes

Versus 3-bets

Continue in position or from the Big Blind when the price and effective stack support realizing the draw-heavy hand.
Fold more often against a tight 3-bet or when out of position. Its reverse implied odds are real when a lower straight or flush is dominated.
A 4-bet is normally a fold. 76s does not retain enough value against a range that continues after another raise.

Post-flop playability

76s ranges from a made low straight to an open-ended draw or a complete miss depending on the middle ranks. Count the actual completing cards, its connectivity is useful only when the board supplies enough of the sequence.
