On A♣ K♦ 3♥, Q8o has Queen-high and no direct draw. Check-fold to pressure.

Strategic notes

Versus 3-bets

Fold: Q8o can use its connectivity in single-raised pots, but a 3-bet leaves too little price for its offsuit draws.
Do not confuse the gap with a draw: Q8 can make straight draws on connected boards, but it has no flush draw from offsuit hole cards.

Post-flop playability

Control top pair: The Eight kicker loses to Q9o and better Qx, so do not treat every Queen flop as a value spot.
Q8o has real connectivity only when the flop supplies the middle of 7-8-9-T. Count whether both ends are open, a single gutshot does not justify the same continuation.
Avoid pure bluffs: On a rainbow miss, Q8o has little equity and no flush draw. Position can justify one small stab, not a large multi-street bluff.
