82s is a five-gapper, not a connector. Its eight-high flush is better than those of lower suited trash, but the deuce has almost no straight relationship with the eight. 82s is dominated when it pairs and should appear only in narrow late-position or Big Blind branches.

A suited label does not make it a profitable shove.

Two pair

On 8♠ 2♦ K♣, 82s flops two pair. Keep value lines measured because stronger eights, kings, sets, and draws can improve against it.

Gutshot and backdoor flush

On 9♣ 6♦ 5♥, 82s has a gutshot to a seven for 5-6-7-8-9. It has no immediate flush draw on this rainbow flop.

Complete miss

On A♣ Q♦ 3♥, 82s has no pair or immediate straight draw. Fold to standard pressure and avoid forcing a bluff.

Strategic notes

Versus 3-bets

Fold almost always. The five-gap structure leaves too few clean continuing flops.
Do not defend merely because 82s is suited. Continue only with an exceptional Big Blind price and effective depth.

Post-flop playability

The Eight and Deuce do not form a normal straight route together. A rare gutshot uses the Eight while the Deuce contributes nothing, so the draw needs a precise board and price.
Two spades on the flop create a flush draw, but an eight-high flush is still dominated by higher suited holdings.
A pair of eights has a deuce kicker and is often dominated by any better eight. A pair of deuces is rarely strong enough to continue against pressure.
