Strategic notes

Versus 3-bets
  • Fold: Tight 3-bet ranges contain too many better aces and pairs.
  • Call selectively: Big blind defense can use the suited nut-flush draw at a good price.
Post-flop playability
  • Nut-flush draw: A7s picks up the nut-flush draw when the flop brings two diamonds, even if its seven has no pair.
  • Top pair: When an ace flops without a seven, A7s has top pair with a seven kicker, usually a bluff catcher.
  • Pair plus draw: On a 8-6-5 flop, A7s pairs its seven and has an open-ended draw to a 4 or 9.
