Weak offsuit high-card hand
Ten-Nine Offsuit
T9o is the most connected hand in this group, but it remains offsuit and is often dominated when it pairs the Ten. It can appear in late-position steals or big-blind defenses with depth. Against early action, fold because higher Tens and strong broadways remove its clean outs.

T9o is mostly a later-position open, with the exact frequency changing sharply by seat and stack depth.
It has useful connectivity but no suited blocker and poor performance versus calls.
Depth lets open-ended draws realize their value.
A deep-stack call does not imply a shove.
The range contains many better Tens and higher connectors.
Strong against

T8o shares the Ten but has the weaker kicker, making a dominated pair that can still pay T9o.
Weak against

AToATo shares the Ten with the better kicker, so T9o can make a costly second-best pair.
Flop classes

On Q♣ J♦ 7♠, an Eight or King completes a straight.

On T♠ 6♣ 2♦, prefer pot control because better Tens dominate the pair.

On A♦ K♣ 3♥, fold without a pair or a direct straight draw.
Strategic notes
- Fold out of position: T9o loses much of its value when it cannot see turns cheaply.
- Call selectively in position: A favorable price and sufficient depth are both required.
- Identify the made straight: On a flop containing the ranks around T9o, it already has a straight. Account for higher straights and flushes before building the pot.
- Treat a Ten pair cautiously: On T♣ 7♦ 2♥, stronger Tens and overpairs can value-bet against it.
- Remember the missing flush route: T9o cannot make a flush using its hole cards.
