Ten-Four Suited

T4s combines a weak ten with a four that can connect to 5-6. The suited form creates real flush draws, but better tens dominate top pair and higher flush draws can dominate the suit. Use it in late-position steals and priced big-blind defenses, not as a routine call against strength.

Open when:Selected late-position steals

Position and fold equity give T4s its best preflop use.

3bet when:Rarely with chart support

Suited equity helps, but T4s lacks a strong high-card blocker.

Call when:Mostly from the big blind at a clear price

Stack depth matters because weak pairs reverse implied odds.

Jam when:Only with short-stack chart support

Do not rely on the straight potential alone to justify a shove.

Fold when:Early opens and large 3-bets

Fold when a tight range is likely to dominate your ten or flush draw.

94s shares the Four but has the weaker kicker, making a dominated pair that can still pay T4s.

ATs shares the Ten with the better kicker, so T4s can make a costly second-best pair.

Flop classes

Ten-high top pair

Check back or call small sizing. Better tens dominate your top pair, so large pots need a strong read.

Flush draw

T♠ 4♠ plus A♠ 7♠ makes four spades, a legal flush draw. Beware higher spades in the opponent's range.

Open-ended straight draw

With 5-6-7, the 4 makes 4-5-6-7, an open-ended straight draw to a 3 or 8.

Strategic notes

Versus 3-bets

Call selectively or fold: Continue only when position and price support the flush or straight potential.
Avoid automatic 4-bet bluffs: T4s does not block enough premium hands and performs poorly when called.

Post-flop playability

Treat a ten as a fragile top pair: Check back more often and avoid three streets against ranges containing better Tx.
Continue when the flop gives a real straight or flush draw, T4s should not be continued merely because it is suited or contains a Ten.
Use position to realize equity: In position, delayed bets and free cards are more valuable. Out of position, fold marginal pairs sooner.
