King-Deuce Offsuit
K2o is near the bottom of the offsuit King-high hands. It has no flush draw, little straight connectivity, and a severe kicker problem when it pairs the King. Fold it from early and middle position. Continue mainly as a Big Blind defence against a late or Small Blind open when the price is good and the stack is not deep.

At 20bb or 100bb, K2o is not a standard open from any position.
The King blocker is not enough to offset the poor equity and weak post-flop playability.
Closing the action against the Small Blind or Button can justify a call, especially with 20bb effective.
Do not turn K2o into a general open shove or reshove.
Better Kings dominate it, and a pair of deuces rarely wins a large pot.
Strong against
Q2o shares the Two but has the weaker kicker, making a dominated pair that can still pay K2o.
Weak against
AKoAKo shares the King with the better kicker, so K2o can make a costly second-best pair.
Flop classes
On K♣ 8♦ 2♥, K2o has two pair. Bet small or check back in position, a large bet isolates against better Kings and sets or two pair.
On K♠ 7♦ 3♣, K2o has top pair and a fragile kicker. Check more often than you value bet.
On 8♣ 6♦ 6♥, K2o has only King-high. Preserve showdown value and fold to sustained pressure.
On 9♣ 8♦ 7♥, K2o has no pair and no straight draw. Check-fold against a bet.
Strategic notes
- Fold K2o to a 3-bet. Its King blocker does not provide enough fold equity to compensate for dominated top pairs and almost no draw potential.
- Do not call simply because the raise is small. Out of position, K2o realises its equity poorly and cannot continue on most flops.
- Control the pot with a King pair. A weak kicker makes large value bets dangerous against continuing ranges containing Kx with a better kicker.
- A deuce pair is usually a bluff catcher, not a hand to build a pot around.
- K2o cannot make a flush with its hole cards and has no normal four-card straight draw. Check-fold missed boards when facing pressure.
